Accredited private polytechnics in Nigeria

This is “funny” and “painful” education news in Nigeria. But also an opportunity in disguise for accredited private polytechnics in Nigeria. Determined to end the 5-month old strike embarked upon by The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the Federal Government of Nigeria directed vice-chancellors of federal universities to immediately reopen their campuses for academic activities.

The Nigeria government has advised lecturers to resume duties on or before December 4 or risk dismissal from the services of their respective universities. Also, Vice-Chancellors of various Universities have, therefore, been directed to declare vacancies for recruitment of new batch of lecturers.

The Nation’s Universities Commission NUC is directed to monitor the amount of compliance of affected universities. Asuu’s demand might sound sweet or sour depending on which side you have sympathy for but the bottom line- the real guys that bears the brunt is the students who will need to spend more time and off course more money. The future seem blink for this youth whose future now hangs on a balance.

Asuu says; Let us just wait for 7 days and see, they believe the latest government action  just demonstrates none commitment to agreement and that they will not fall to blackmail.

You know what I think, it’s time to start to focus on the relevance and importance of the Polytechnic. Apart from the Federal or state owned polytechnics there are some accredited private polytechnics in Nigeria, I think can also train intellectually sound professionals in every Endeavour of life.

If the Government institutions are unable to come to a win -win situation and this Fed Gov thing with Asuu lingers, let’s remember Nitel Mtel which was naturally swallowed up by the Globacom, MTN,Airtel,Visafone, Multilink,Etisalat, etc. New Telecom players Licensed over 10 years ago.

The following accredited private polytechnics in Nigeria are worth consideration by prospective undergraduate who don’t want to spend 2 or more extra years in school in addition to specified years. If any of these top class accredited private polytechnics in Nigeria don’t fancy you, what will. These institutions of higher learning can be found in all of the major cities in Nigeria, A polytechnic is a specialized institution of higher learning which is established for imparting both theoretical and more balanced practical education.

Most students have felt pressure to attend university from grownups, then why was the polytechnic established anyway. Most people assume polytechnics only appeal to mechanics as well as the hospitality industry. The truth is they also train media professional, arts, designers, business men and women, landscape designers, fine arts, software engineering, The polytechnic is endowed with an enormous potentials that remain untapped.

Though attending a university cost more but the discrimination witnessed in the job market might not be a true reflection of the actual state of the polytechnic compare to the university (we are living with it). University graduate who hold an equivalent of the qualification of a graduate in the polytechnic earn relatively more.
